Three Things We Highlight

What Makes This School Stand Out Indian River Charter.

No brochure promises — the photos on this page come straight from the school and show real everyday life.

VAPA · Arts

A school that builds stages.

The Visual and Performing Arts program is the strongest in the district — theatre, dance, vocal and instrumental music, visual arts, plus fashion, jazz and photography. With its own black-box stage and “The Dome” performance venue.

Every semester the whole school produces a VAPA showcase together — orchestra, musical, dance and set design from one team. Spend a year here and you are not watching from the sidelines — you are right in the middle of it.

Academics

College credits — before graduation.

AP courses, the Cambridge AICE program and dual enrollment at the adjacent Indian River State College: students leave high school with real college credits.

The results speak for themselves — a 99 percent graduation rate, and with 96 percent attendance, students clearly like showing up.

Athletics

Fifteen sports. One team spirit.

From soccer and lacrosse to wrestling — plus a 9-acre golf training facility in partnership with Vista Plantation. Exchange students train and compete from day one.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which visa do I need for this school?
For public and charter schools like this one, the program typically runs on the J-1 exchange visa. SIDO is a certified sponsor and handles the full prep — DS-2019, SEVIS, embassy appointment.
Where will my child live during the stay?
With a host family in Vero Beach or close by, personally vetted by SIDO. The family is matched to your child — not randomly assigned.
What does a full school year at this school with SIDO cost in total?
Total cost depends on school type and program length. A transparent breakdown of every cost component — what's included and which additional expenses are realistic — is on the Costs page.
How does the application process work?
First step: a free 30-minute conversation about whether this school, another partner, or another state would be the better fit. Then the formal application, which we fill out together. The school usually responds within two to four weeks.
